Timber Creek Wolves Make FHSI Classic All Tournament Team
March 25, 2017
Playing in this week's FHSI Classic Spring Break Tournament, two members of the Timber Creek Varsity baseball team received FHSI Classic All Tournament Team honors.
Most Valuable Pitcher
Bret Neilan
Bret opened up the 2017 FHSI Classic with one of the strongest starts of the entire tournament. His Timber Creek Wolves were matched up against a tough opponent in the Highland Hawks. Neilan was up to the challenge though, tossing six innings while allowing a total of four batters to reach base on a walk, single, error and hit by pitch. In fact, he didn't allow a hit until the 5th inning, and no batter made it further than second base while he was pitching. The junior right hander kept the Hawks at bay with a nice mix of a fastball, changeup and a strong breaking pitch. Using this arsenal, he was able to strikeout a total of nine batters in his six innings of work.
All Tournament Team, Offense
Cameron Meehan
The Rollins College commit had a hot bat in the 2017 FHSI Classic, leading Timber Creek offensively with a .500 batting average and .600 on base percentage. Cameron showed excellent power at the plate as well, tallying 3 extra base hits (2 doubles, 1 triple) for an .833 slugging percentage. Rounding out his offensive performance, Cameron stole 3 bases and scored 3 runs for his Timber Creek Wolves.
