April 22, 2015 Timber Creek High School (Wolf Pack Park)
After four lead changes in Wednesday's game at Timber Creek High School, Wolves finally pulled out a 5-2 win over Winter Park.
Wolves took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. Cameron Zook led off the inning with a walk, Nick Allen put down a perfect push bunt single and David Savetman had an infield single to load the bases for Will Boggs. Wolves took the lead on a huge two-run double by Will Boggs off J.P. Colton, plating Nick Allen and Thomas Farkass giving Timber Creek a 3-2 lead. Arnie Ruiz then laid down a perfect drag bunt single down the 3rd base line with 2 strikes to score Savetman and a 4-2 lead. Isaiah Arana was intentionally walked to load the bases and then D’Quan Matthews drew a bases loaded walk to make the score 5-2.
Isaiah Arana reached base three times in the game for Wolves. He singled in the first and third innings going 2-3 scoring a run. David Savetmen and Arnie Ruiz each had two hits.
Michael D’Emo started the game pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Winter Park's lineup had no answer for Andrew Perez who came in relief. Perez held Winter Park hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
J.P. Colton was the game's losing pitcher. He pitched 7 innings, walked three, struck out 10, and allowed five runs.
The top of the first saw Wolves take an early lead, 1-0. Wolves got a spark in the form of a Arana single, before Cameron Meehan singled.
Timber Creek will play University High School in the District Championship on Friday, April 24th.
