TC Jr. Prep Caps 2013 Fall Season with Great Tourney Run
Despite struggling toward the end of the regular season, the junior prep team was refocused and ready to play in the fall postseason tournament. After dropping a tough 11-7 decision to Lyman in the first round, the team regrouped and refused to go down in the double-elimination tournament without a fight. A decisive 22-5 win against University-Orange City in the second round propelled the junior prep squad into weekend play.
Facing West Orange – to whom the junior prep squad had dropped two of three regular season contests – the team rallied around strong pitching and solid defense en route to a 7-3 win. Leveraging the momentum from the West Orange win, the team dominated DeLand in the next round, delivering a signature, 8-0 win in a run rule-shortened game. This outstanding win brought the team into a semi-finals showdown with familiar foe Lyman. Jumping out to an early lead, the junior prep team once again used stellar pitching and tough defense to hold a two-run lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Unfortunately, untimely walks and a few key hit from Lyman erased the early lead and ended with a hard-fought, 9-6 defeat.
The junior prep team showed great tenacity and incredible resolve throughout the postseason tournament, quickly rebounding from a tough end of the regular season to generate an outstanding postseason run. Thanks to the guidance of manager Matt Lopez, each player on the fall squad played a key role in this success. We’re looking forward to a great spring campaign!
Congrats Jr Prep!
Go Wolves!!!
