Slew of Ospreys Named All-Atlantic Sun Conference
MACON, Ga. – The University of North Florida' Corey Bass and Tyler Marincov were both named First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, May 21, while Joe Wielbruda, Kyle Brooks, Donnie Dewees and Michael Renner were all named to the Second Team. Corbin Olmstead joined Dewees and Brooks on the A-Sun All-Freshman team. Olmstead and Dewees were both unanimous selections to the All-Freshman team. In addition, Renner and Evan Incinelli were both named to the 2013 Atlantic Sun Baseball Academic All-Conference team.
Marincov, a 2013 Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection, was named A-Sun Player of the Week on March 11. Heading in to the final weekend of play, the Orlando native ranked in the NCAA in triples (15th), runs (24th), triples per game (29th), doubles (34th), total bases (37th), runs per game (43rd), hits (60th), stolen bases (65th), doubles per game (70th), runs batted in (74th), stolen bases per game (79th), runs batted in per game (112th) and base on balls (120th). Marincov ranked in the A-Sun top-10 this season in runs scored (1st), triples (1st), total bases (1st), stolen bases (1st), doubles (2nd), slugging percentage (4th), runs batted in (4th), at bats (4th), on-base percentage (5th), hits (5th), home runs (5th), stolen base attempts (5th), walks (6th) and total plate appearances (6th). The junior is the only player on Ospreys roster to play in and start every game this season (55 games). He is the first player in UNF's Division I history to steal 20 or more bases. Marincov led team in slugging percentage, runs scored, runs batted in, doubles, triples, home runs, total bases, walks, stolen bases, games played and games started. In addition, he had a team-best seven outfield assists. Marincov led the team with 25 multiple-hit games (13 in A-Sun) and 14 multiple-RBI games (9 in A-Sun). Marincov hit safely in 46 of 55 games this season (.836), reaching base safely in 53 games (.964). The right fielder ended the regular season with a team-long 23-game hitting streak (still active) and 26-game reached base streak (still active). He is batting .426 (40-for-94) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 27 RBI, .734 slugging-percentage, 14 walks, 1 hit by pitch, .505 on-base percentage during 23-game hitting streak with 11 stolen bases.
