Three Wildcats Named to Baseball All-MEAC Team

NORFOLK, Va. - Heading into the first day of competition at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Championships on Wednesday (May 15), officials from the MEAC office announced the 2013 regular season honors, with three Wildcats featured on the All-MEAC first team.

The first team featured two Wildcats pitchers, namely starting pitcher Montana Durapau and relief pitcher Jordan Dailey. A junior, Durapau (Deltona, Fla.) has accumulated a record of 8-3 on the year, with 67 strikeouts in 92 1/3 innings pitched, while carrying four complete games, two shutouts and an ERA of 3.41.

On the other end of the game, senior closer Dailey (Orlando, Fla.) now owns the B-CU program’s appearances and saves records, pitching in 30 games this season with a 5-0 record and MEAC-leading 1.07 ERA.

The Wildcats’ lone position player on the All-MEAC first team is junior outfielder Josh Johnson, who has proven steady at the plate and on defense. Johnson (Tampa, Fla.) has been the Wildcats’ most consistent hitter in 2013, batting .322 heading into the tournament, with team-highs of 64 hits and 13 doubles, and 17 RBI, 29 runs scored and 15 bases stolen.
