Although Timber Creek offense was stiffled, the team was able to walk away with a 21-7 record after the semi-final game.
Although the Wolves fell to Spruce Creek 8-0 during the semi-finals, the team walked away with a 21-7 season record.
A fantastic Timber Creek baseball season drew to a close in Port St. Lucie Saturday May 19, as the Wolves fell 8–0 to Spruce Creek in an FHSAA Class 8-A state semi-final game.
The Wolves had a deep hole to climb out of early, falling behind 7–0 after only the third inning. Spruce Creek pitchers kept Timber Creek off the base paths–and the scoreboard–throughout the night, striking out nine Wolves and not permitting a runner past second base.
The Wolves pitching and defense, which propelled the team to back-to-back district titles and a regional championship win to earn the berth in the state semi-final, struggled, surrendering eight runs, eight hits and committing an uncharacteristic four errors.
On offense, Timber Creek was held scoreless and could muster only two hits–both singles by senior Zach Barrett. The Wolves closed the 2012 campaign with a record of 21–7 and another outstanding effort deep into the FHSAA state baseball playoffs.
