Player of the Year
Zack Greinke
Pitcher/1st Baseman, Apopka, Senior
The buzz: Greinke, Gatorade National Player of the Year, led the Blue Darters to a 30-3 season with his arm (9-2, 0.55 ERA) and bat. He hit .480 with 10 homers, 39 runs and 40 RBIs. His list of school records includes 183 hits, 31 HRs, 42 doubles and 144 RBIs.

First Team
Devin Anderson
Pitcher, West Orange, senior
The buzz: He opened the season with a 55-inning scoreless streak, 2nd-best in state history. He went 7-1 with a 1.13 ERA and allowed only 30 hits and 12 walks in 58 innings, with 72 strikeouts.

Tim Thoreson
Pitcher, Cypress Creek, senior
The buzz: Thoreson (7-2, 1.45 ERA) lost his 1st 2 starts, then heated up to lead the Bears to their 1st district title. He blanked West Orange 4-0 at regionals and allowed only 44 hits in 672/3 innings.

Justin Meier
Pitcher/3rd Baseman, West Orange, senior
The buzz: Meier was 17-3 over 2 seasons as a pitcher, and had an 87 to 7 strikeouts-to-walk ratio this year. He also led the Metro Conference champs in batting average at .370, and had 3 home runs, 12 steals and 18 RBIs.

Justin Smith
Pitcher/Catcher, Eustis, junior
The buzz: Smith's prior reputation was as a catcher, and he continued to produce in that position with a .343 average, 6 homers and 33 RBIs. But he stepped up as a pitcher as well with an 8-2 record, 0.69 ERA and 116 strikeouts.

Adam Donachie
Catcher, Timber Creek, senior
The buzz: The 6-2, 185-pound pro prospect switched from Colonial to Timber Creek but didn't slow his pace. He hit .454 with 13 home runs, 41 runs scored, 16 steals and 45 RBIs. Over 2 seasons, he racked up 82 hits and 84 RBIs.

Ryan Bono
Catcher/DH, Lake Mary, senior
The buzz: Bono was voted Class 6A Player of the Year in the Seminole/Volusia district after batting .457 with 28 RBIs for a 26-2 team. He signed early with UCF, along with his brother, Kyle.

Ben Hall
2nd Baseman, Seabreeze, senior
The buzz: Hall shifted from shortstop to 2nd base, where he is projected at the next level, and continued to rip the ball. He batted .453, with 14 doubles and 29 RBIs. He signed early with Stetson.

Jason Louwsma
Shortstop, Seminole, senior
The buzz: Louwsma drew rave reviews from opposing coaches with his defensive prowess and ability to produce offensively. He batted .383 with 2 home runs, 19 runs scored and 33 RBIs.

Kristopher Gawriluk
Pitcher/3rd baseman, Deltona, senior
The buzz: The son of Wolves Coach Jim Gawriluk grew up as the ultimate multiposition team player. He hit .385 with 12 doubles, 20 runs and 25 RBIs and was 7-2 as a pitcher with a 0.74 ERA and 9 complete games.

Cedrick Dewberry
Outfielder, Evans, senior
The buzz: The Trojans were near the bottom in the Metro Conference, but he topped the Central Florida batting list with a .566 average. An opposing coach said his arm is the best in Orange County.

Brett Murphy
Outfielder/Pitcher, Oviedo, senior
The buzz: Murphy ignited the Lions' surprising run to the Class 6A state final with a no-hitter against DeLand and kept it going with a dramatic homer against Greinke. He hit .337 with 26 runs, 15 RBIs and 11 steals.

Matt Brunnig
Pitcher/Outfielder, Warner Christian, senior
The buzz: The celebrity came from his ability to pitch with both hands, but Brunnig's stats were noteworthy enough: a 15-3 pitching record with 168 strikeouts. Had a .490 batting average with 22 doubles, 35 runs and 39 RBIs.
